Hi there
I am a dairy farmer in New Zealand and have been reading up on your forum for a few years now. I find it very impressive how much knowledge you people share about just about everything Deutz.
On the farm we run a MF6255—DX90—Agrostar631

Now on our Agrostar the dashboard light for hydraulic oil came on, followed by a whining?noise in the back and not long after the gear box light came on.
As far as I can check, the Agrostar has enough oil in Hydraulic tank (level in Glass on left hand side) and gearbox is full too (sight glass bottom right). I changed both filters under right hand steps, but did not change oil or check sensors.

It sounds like it gets no oil, but the hydraulics, pto, clutch and gears work like they should.
Did I miss anything? ?(
If someone could help, please reply in German. I can mostly understand German, but struggle with speaking/writing :)
Thanks you in advance
Cheers from Nz

  • Dear Deutzer200, Mandeutzman and Lukas
  • Thank you soo much for your input. I did locate the pre-filter and found it was completely blocked with dirt, dust and parts of seal. Luckily little to no iron filings.
Cleaned it and changed the oil and our Agrostar lives again  .
  • It works well as before, so I did not check nr 2 und 3. May have to do it next service though.

Hey Tony
it's great to hear your Agrostar is running again.
But please check the rubber cuffs on the gear shift. It is possible that they are torn and therefore you have so much dirt in the Gearbox/pre-filter.
They are located on the right site.
You can see it on the Pictures.
These are the Partnumbers for the rubber cuffs:
0434 9271
0439 1106
0439 1104
0439 1105
When you change the cuffs clean the shiftmecanism and lubricate it after. The shifting should get smoother.

Best wishes and a happy new Year 2020.

Greetings Robin

Hello Tony.
Even in New Zealand Deutz tractors? I really didn't expect that.

Do you have photos of your tractors that you want to show?
I wish you the best for 2020.

Greetings from the northern part of Germany, that people here speak Danish better than English.

Dear Robin
The rubber cuffs are worn and I will order new ones. Thank you. I have owned the Agrostar for 12 months now and I am slowly working on it. It still needs a few things done to it: Dashboard comes up with cal—few oil leaks—brakes lock up sometimes—new rubbers in doors/windows—diff switch does not work. I have read up a lot on your forum and You people encouraged me to ask for help when I need it.

There are some 06 a number of DX in NZ. Most of them are Australian spec, with an aftermaker cab, airconditioning, different rims and no mud guards. I have only come across 3 Agrostars here. There are a lot of mk2 and mk3 Agrotrons here as well as K and M and the new models seem to be selling well.

We own the described Agrostar 6.31 with 5800 hours acording to dash ??????
It has a Sauter front link and pto.

Since 2005 we are the second owners of a 1982,83?? european spec DX90
It is a real beauty with Starcab, airco, TW900 and only 11000hours. This tractor was fitted with a turbo by the importer.

We bought the Agrostar to take over from the 90. Mainly because of 40km/h and front linkage. Now my wife wants me to sell 90, but I am not ready yet.
the two Deutzes are second tractors here and only do 4-500 hours per year between them, so plenty of life left in them

Hello Tony,

very nice pictures
Btw never, I repeat NEVER sell the 90.
Buy jewellery or something else for your wife, tell her about the rarity you own but don't sell it.

Greetings from Bavaria

  • Happy new year to you all too. May every good person be blessed with good health and shit loads of grass (or wheat, sugar beet, potatoes)
  • You are right Lucas. The 6.31 looks impressive on 600/65r38. It’s front shoes are 480/65r28 Now we just need to make the guards a bit wider. Unfortunately I cannot get originals, so I hope my homemade ones are not going to look too wrong.
